A Republican campaign ad broke up the otherwise left-leaning messaging of Super Bowl LVI n Los Angeles.
SO WHAT
It was a rare cultural win for the right.
WHAT HAPPENED
The 30-second spot, aired by David McCormick, a former CEO of Bridgewater Associates and U.S. Senate candidate in Pennsylvania, listed some of the Biden administration’s problems, while the “Let’s go Brandon” chant echoed in background.
Record inflation, surging crime, out-of-control immigration, Big Tech censorship and the U.S. pullout from Afghanistan were highlighted with news headlines.
- McCormick has fought to distinguish himself in a crowded primary as the state GOP and former President Donald Trump have stayed above the fray.
- In Pennsylvania and nationwide, Republicans have been bullish about their prospects in the 2022 midterms.
MEANWHILE
Although the NFL and advertisers reportedly sought to tone down the politics of Sunday’s Super Bowl, there were still plenty of woke moments.
