A record 1.9 million migrant arrests took place at the southern border last year, but you won’t hear about it in The New York Times or the Washington Post.
SO WHAT
Why is the mainstream media ignoring this?
WHAT HAPPENED
The number of arrests made by U.S. Border Patrol agents last year was an all-time record, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday, citing data released in court filings from a lawsuit against the Biden administration.
Before the pandemic began, a surge of border crossings led to nearly 56% of migrants arrested at the border being released into the U.S.
- That figure dropped to 20% in 2021.
- The Republican attorneys general of Missouri and Texas sued the Biden administration last year to prevent the federal government from ending the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy.
- The policy halts asylum seekers from crossing into the U.S. to await the adjudication of their claims.
WHERE’S THE COVERAGE?
A search of The New York Times, CNN, Washington Post and NBC News websites returned zero results for reports on the new data.
