Clashes between protesters and authorities following the removal of former Peru President Pedro Castillo have resulted in the deaths of two adolescents, The Guardian reported.
- Castillo, a left-wing populist elected in July 2021, was impeached and arrested last week for trying to dissolve the country’s congress.
- The civil unrest in Peru followed mass election fraud protests in Brazil last month by supporters of outgoing President Jair Bolsonaro, a right-wing populist.
