QUOTE OF THE DAY: Biden Reveals the Steep Price of Russian Sanctions

President Biden says food shortages are part of the price the U.S. must pay to stand alongside Ukraine in its fight against Russia.

THE QUOTE

“With regard to food shortage, yes we did talk about food shortages, and it’s gonna be real,” Biden said Thursday, addressing concerns about the war’s effect on the world food supply at a Group of Seven summit in Brussels, Belgium.

“The price of the sanctions is not just imposed upon Russia. It’s imposed upon an awful lot of countries as well, including European countries and our country as well,” he added.

  • Earlier at the summit, Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reportedly discussed increasing their respective nations’ agricultural capacity to ameliorate the shortfall from two of the largest grain producers reducing production.
