CNN host Don Lemon suggested Tuesday he doesn’t share the consensus opinion on Pennsylvania Democratic Senate candidate John Fetterman’s debate performance last week.
THE QUOTE
Lemon, who recently conducted a pre-recorded interview with Fetterman, told his “CNN This Morning” co-hosts that he “didn’t have the same reaction as most people” to Fetterman’s debate against his GOP opponent, Dr. Mehmet Oz.
“Most people are like ‘oh my gosh I can’t believe it, you know Oz is doing such a great job’—Dr. Oz, of course, is a smart man and did a great job, but I actually thought—I was expecting worse from Fetterman,” he said.
- The debate was widely seen as a debacle for Fetterman, who is recovering from the stroke he suffered in May and continues to struggle with speech and hearing difficulties.
- A Morning Call and Muhlenberg College poll released Tuesday found that Fetterman is hanging on to a 1-point lead over Oz in the Pennsylvania senate race.
