QUOTE OF THE DAY: Is There Anyone Trump Can’t Beat?

Former President Trump touted his popularity by recounting a pollster’s assertion that the combined forces of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were no match for him electorally.

THE QUOTE

While speaking at the final day of the Hispanic Leadership Conference hosted in Miami, Florida by the America First Policy Institute, Trump said his successes as president had lifted him to previously unrealized heights of popularity.

“I remember a very famous pollster, very well known, John McLaughlin, came to my office just prior to the plague coming,” Trump said, refencing McLaughlin & Associates CEO John McLaughlin. “And he said, sir, if George Washington and Abraham Lincoln came alive from the dead and they formed a president, vice president team, you would beat them by 40%.”

  • McLaughlin still rates the former president’s electoral chances very highly: In a poll released Sept. 23, his firm said Trump would defeat Biden by four points.
