QUOTE OF THE DAY: Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘Soup Nazi’ Moment

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., on Tuesday accused House Speaker “Nancy Pelosi’s gazpacho police” of spying on Republicans in Congress and their constituents.

THE QUOTE

Appearing on One America News, Greene piggybacked on new allegations by Rep. Troy Nehl, R-Texas, that the Capitol Police “illegally” searched his office in November to gather intelligence about the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

  • “Not only do we have the D.C. jail, which is the D.C. gulag. Now we have Nancy Pelosi’s gazpacho police spying on members of Congress, spying on the legislative work that we do, spying on our staff and spying on American citizens that want to come to talk with their representatives,” Greene said.
  • In a statement Tuesday, the Capitol Police denied any wrongdoing or any investigation of Nehl.

Greene’s apparent confusion of cold tomato soup for Nazi Germany’s secret police was widely mocked on the left, with some commentators invoking the “soup Nazi” from “Seinfeld.”

  • But one prominent “conspiracy researcher” warned fellow liberals that Greene, who has a history of making controversial Holocaust comparisons, would get the last laugh.
