Jennyfer Hatch, 37, was the star of a short film for a Canadian fashion retailer that celebrated her Oct. 23 medically assisted suicide.

  • But Hatch’s friends told Canadian press in recent days that she only opted for death after failing for years to find proper health care for her rare medical condition, Ehlers Danlos syndrome.
  • Canada’s permissive euthanasia laws — which enabled 3% of all national deaths last year — will soon be expanded to cover mental health conditions and “mature minors” are also being considered for eligibility.
